If CIS has cost you a penalty in the last 12 months, it'll cost you another one soon. We see this every week.
CIS gets harder when you scale
One subcontractor is straightforward. Five gets messy. Twenty becomes a job you don't have time to do properly. Verification statuses change. Subbies forget to send their tax certificates. Monthly returns slip past the 19th.
£100 penalty here, £100 penalty there. It adds up fast. And when HMRC starts asking why a verification is wrong, the conversation is hours of admin you didn't budget for.

Transparent Pricing
Every client is different, so we don’t force businesses into one-size-fits-all packages.
We’ll discuss what support you need, agree the scope of work upfront, and provide a clear proposal before we start.
Many clients choose to spread the cost through monthly payments, helping them budget for their accountancy support throughout the year.

Based across Oxfordshire and Essex. A small team. One standard of work. You meet the accountant doing your books. You always speak to them directly. You never get bounced to a help desk or a rotating cast of juniors.
That's how Samuel set up the firm in 2024 and that's how we still work as we grow.

Common Questions
Do I need to register for CIS?
If you pay subcontractors for construction work, yes. If you're a subcontractor being paid for construction work, also yes. Both sides of the scheme require registration.
What's the deadline for CIS returns?
The 19th of every month for the prior tax month (6th of the month to the 5th of the next). Late returns carry a £100 fixed penalty rising fast for repeat lateness.
How do I reclaim CIS deductions?
Limited company subcontractors offset CIS suffered against PAYE and corporation tax. Sole traders reclaim through self assessment. We handle both routes.
Can I get gross payment status?
Yes, if you meet the turnover, business, and compliance tests. We'll review your eligibility and apply on your behalf if it's the right move.
What happens if I get the verification wrong?
HMRC may direct you to deduct at 30% instead of 20%, or recover the under-deducted tax from you. Verifications need redoing every two years and any time a subbie's status might have changed.
